The scariest thing for newly-minted scream queen Jenna Ortega? Conflicting production schedules.

The “Wednesday” star revealed that she was “devastated” to not return to serial killer drama “You” for Season 4 after making her series debut in the second season as Joe Goldberg’s (Penn Badgley) confidante Ellie.

“I was devastated,” Ortega told Entertainment Tonight of not being able to return to the series. “Easily one of my favorite sets that I’ve ever, ever been on. I was so devastated. I miss Ellie, and I’ve been wanting to go back to Ellie for a long time, but I was in Romania shooting ‘Wednesday.’ I couldn’t travel back and forth with the pandemic and everything like that, and when you’re committed to a show there’s just no way that it could’ve worked out.”

Ortega added, “But that one, that bummed me out. I tried.”

“You” showrunner Sera Gamble exclusively told IndieWire that Ortega was written into the original plans for Season 4.

“We wanted to bring Ellie back and we heard, ‘Oh, Jenna is doing some show,'” Gamble said. “It’s been just such a pleasure to see Jenna this year. We have ideas for Ellie if her schedule allows her to visit us again.”

Ortega previously told Teen Vogue in 2019 that she would love to reprise her role of Ellie and had some plot twist ideas of her own.

“It would be amazing to see Ellie come back and take control of her life,” Ortega said. “I just want her to be an even bigger badass. I don’t want her to come back and be extremely vulnerable and sad. We have to remember that even though people still find Joe somewhat charming, he’s evil, he does terrible things, and he gets away with them because of his gender and race and his position in society. [Ellie] has so much potential and so much talent that she shouldn’t waste because of him.”

Meanwhile, Ortega is slated to film “Wednesday” Season 2 and is starring in “Scream VI,” in theaters March 10. The Disney Channel alum’s upcoming roles also include a yet-untitled film alongside The Weeknd and Oscar nominee Barry Keoghan, directed by “Waves” and “It Comes at Night” helmer Trey Edward Shults. The Weeknd co-wrote the feature along with Shults, with The Weeknd collaborating with “Uncut Gems” and “Good Time” composer-producer OPN (real name Daniel Lopatin) to score the film.

The Weeknd “has been developing the project for some time and in recent months came to Shults about directing it,” Deadline reports.

Despite high-profile offers lately, Jenna and Barry reportedly both “made it clear they wanted this as their next project and following their commitments, the film was a go.”

The Weeknd is also set to star in HBO’s The Idol, which he also co-created with Euphoria creator Sam Levinson.

Earlier this month, The Weeknd was seen filming what was presumed a music video, but with this movie news, it’s likely he may have actually been filming scenes for the upcoming feature.

After his legendary cameo as himself in “Uncut Gems,” R&B star Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye is making his proper feature film acting debut. The artist behind “After Hours” and “Dawn FM” will write and star in a new film from “Waves” and “It Comes at Night” director Trey Edward Shults, IndieWire has confirmed.

In addition to Tesfaye, the currently untitled project will also star “Wednesday” and “Scream” breakout Jenna Ortega and “The Banshees of Inisherin” Oscar nominee Barry Keoghan. Tesfaye and Shults co-wrote the script for the currently untitled project with Reza Fahim, who has previously collaborated with Tesfaye on his upcoming HBO series “The Idol.” Tesfaye will also compose the score for the feature with Daniel Lopatin, or OPN, who is best known for his work on “Uncut Gems” and the Safdie Brother’s other film “Good Time.” Chayse Irvin serves as director of photography; his previous credits include “Blonde” and “BlacKkKlansman.”

Plot details for the film are currently under wraps, but the project has already begun production. Tesfaye, Fahim, Kevin Turen, and Harrison Kreiss produce, while Shults and Ortega executive produce. A studio for the film has not yet been announced, but all three of Shults’ prior projects have been distributed by A24.

Tesfaye is one of the best-selling modern pop stars with over 75 million records sold worldwide. In 2015, he received an Oscar nomination for his “50 Shades of Grey” tie-in song “Earned It,” and released the “Avatar: The Way of Water” song “Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)” last year.

He co-created “The Idol,” set for release sometime later this year on HBO, with “Euphoria” creator Sam Levinson, and leads an ensemble cast that also includes Lily-Rose Depp, Suzanna Son, Troye Sivan, Moses Sumney, Jane Adams, Dan Levy, Jennie Ruby Jane, Eli Roth, Rachel Sennott, Hari Nef, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Mike Dean, and Hank Azaria.

Shults made his feature directorial debut in 2015 with his South by Southwest premiere “Krisha.” He followed the film with “It Comes at Night” in 2017 and “Waves” in 2019, both of which received positive reviews.

Jenna Ortega had quite the experience while filming Wednesday season one.

The 20-year-old star of the show previously shared that she took lessons for fencing and cello in preparation for the character, but her schedule took a toll on her.

At one point during filming, she also contracted COVID.

“It was show up to set two hours early, do that 12-14 hour day, then go home and then get on a Zoom and have whatever lesson that I had. Or show up to my apartment, my cello teacher was already waiting for me,” the actress said at a Q&A, via Variety. “It was just constantly going, and if you could on a weekend, if we weren’t shooting the sixth day that week, it was ‘All right, well then, we’ll get your lessons in on that day.’”

The “Paint it Black” cello sequence was especially hard to get down, as Jenna noted she had to switch teachers due to moving abroad for filming, and the piece was meant for two cellos, but she was doing it with only one.

“I did not get any sleep. I pulled my hair out,” Jenna shared. “There’s so many FaceTime calls that my dad answered of me hysterically crying.”

However, director and producer Tim Burton assured her that she would do well, saying, “Oh, don’t worry, you’re going to do great. It’s gonna look great.”

As filming went on, Jenna said that they “started running out of time because Wednesday’s in pretty much every scene.”

“They had to start using stunt doubles or occasionally cello doubles if they didn’t have time to get hands, but I was very adamant about being as well prepared as possible because I wanted them to be able to use myself, because that’s so much more believable if you could see your face,” she added.

Hopefully season two isn’t as rigorous for the actress!

Jenna Ortega may be ready to outrun Ghostface again this year, but Joe Goldberg still hasn’t forgotten about her.

After Ortega starred as Ellie Alves in “You” Season 2, showrunner Sera Gamble revealed the hit series was hoping to bring the character back for Season 4. Ellie was among the few of Joe Goldberg’s (Penn Badgley) confidantes to survive his friendship, and she is referenced in Season 3 as someone Joe still stays in contact with and sends money to.

However, Ortega leading fellow Netflix series “Wednesday” had some scheduling conflicts.

“We wanted to bring Ellie back and we heard, ‘Oh, Jenna is doing some show,'” Gamble told IndieWire. “It’s been just such a pleasure to see Jenna this year. We have ideas for Ellie if her schedule allows her to visit us again.”

Plus, while Joe aka Jonathan Moore bonds with his student Nadia (breakout star Amy-Leigh Hickman), it’s only more reminiscent of his older brother-mentor bond with Ortega’s Ellie.

“To me, his relationship with Nadia is really telling,” Gamble added. “He has such a soft spot that is truly altruistic. He has really good boundaries with young people…except when he occasionally kills their abusive stepparents, but otherwise he’s a great mentor.”

Ortega meanwhile stars in upcoming slasher “Scream VI,” plus has three additional films as well as a second season of “Wednesday” in the works.

Get ready to scream in 3D.

The latest teaser for “Scream VI” shares Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera narrowly escaping Ghostface, only to later discover along with Courteney Cox that Ghostface has a secret super-villain lair complete with dozens of costumes and masks.

Directed by Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the sixth franchise installment sees fellow returning “Scream 5” stars Mindy (Jasmin Savoy Brown), Chad (Mason Gooding), and Tara (Ortega) attending college, with Tara’s half-sister Sam (Barrera) also moving to New York to protect her. Hayden Panettiere (“Scream 4”) is also back as cinephile Kirby, with Dermot Mulroney, Samara Weaving, and Tony Revolori making their franchise debuts. The script is penned by “Scream 5” co-screenwriters James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick.

“Scream VI” will be the first in the franchise to be released in 3D in theaters. A special “Scream VI” fan event, presented by Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media, will kick off Thursday, March 9 to celebrate the release of the film debuting exclusively in theaters March 10.

“‘Scream’ fans are among the most loyal and passionate out there, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring them this latest terrifying chapter like never before, in a visceral 3D format,” Paramount Pictures president of domestic distribution Chris Aronson said. “In this iteration, the ‘Scream’ universe moves beyond Woodsboro and into New York City, and the Big Apple called for even bigger scares, surprises, and frightening turns. Ticketholders at this “Scream VI” screening will also see special content curated for this event, plus will receive a limited-edition collector’s print designed by UK artist Doaly, to be given away at their local theatre on the date of the event, while supplies last. Tickets are available here.

Jenna Ortega may just have become a household name after runaway hit “Wednesday,” but the rising talent has been in Hollywood for over a decade, starting her career at just 10 years old.

Ortega, who also sings on top of her acting, marked her onscreen debut with a 2012 episode of “Rob.” Just one year later, she played the Vice President’s daughter in Marvel’s “Iron Man 3.” The Disney star appeared in “Little Rascal’s Save the Day,” “Know It All Nina,” “Richie Rich,” and “Stuck in the Middle” before breaking into the horror genre. I’ve been on enough of those sets [that] I go and I know what’s expected of me. It feels like a typical 9-to-5.”

Yet Ortega seeks out roles that are anything but “typical,” saying that it’s up to the next generation of creatives to accurately portray diverse stories, especially featuring teens.

“I really see my young generation taking more control of themselves in the industry — whether it’s learning to write sooner, direct sooner, or produce sooner,” Ortega added. “I think it’s really empowering and important because, right now, teenage voices are still being told in the majority by older white males. The more that happens, we’ll acknowledge that girls are much more than a lame stereotype.”

Lana Condor and Madeleine Arthur stepped out for the premiere of The Locksmith held at UTA Screening Room on Monday evening (January 30) in Los Angeles.

The To All The Boys co-stars and IRL besties both opted for a black blazer moment for the screening.

The upcoming movie follows Miller (Phillippe), an ex-con recently released from prison for a bungled robbery, tries to walk a straight line and work his way back into the lives of his ex, Beth (Kate Bosworth), a police detective, and their young daughter.

While Miller is doing his best to stay on the straight and narrow with the help of an old friend (Ving Rhames), he finds his past will not stay in the past, and he is forced to commit one last crime before he can truly walk away. Things once again go badly, and now not only his freedom, but also his daughter’s life, hang in the balance.

Jenna Ortega is mourning the loss of actress Lisa Loring.

The late actress passed away this past weekend at the age of 64, after being taken off life support following a massive stroke, with her daughter Vanessa Foumberg confirming the sad news.

“She went peacefully with both her daughters holding her hands,” she shared with Variety.

Lisa was most well-known for portraying Wednesday Addams in the 1960s TV series, The Addams Family, which aired for two seasons.

“It is with great sadness that I report the death of our friend, Lisa Loring. 4 Days ago she suffered a massive stroke brought on by smoking and high blood pressure. She had been on life support for 3 days. Yesterday, her family made the difficult decision to remove it and she passed last night,” Lisa‘s close friend Laurie Jacobson shared on Facebook.

“She is embedded in the tapestry that is pop culture and in our hearts always as Wednesday Addams. Beautiful, kind, a loving mother, Lisa’s legacy in the world of entertainment is huge. And the legacy for her family and friends — a wealth of humor, affection and love will long play in our memories. RIP, Lisa. Damn, girl…you were a ton of fun.”

Following the news, Jenna, who currently plays Wednesday Addams on Netflix, took to her Instagram Story to mourn the loss.

“Absolutely devastated. Thank you for everything,” she wrote, while sharing two photos of Lisa in character as Wednesday.

Ghostface is ready to take a bite (literally) out of the Big Apple.

“Scream VI” marks the first film sans Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott. Directed by Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the sixth franchise installment sees returning “Scream 5” stars Mindy (Jasmin Savoy Brown), Chad (Mason Gooding), and Tara (Jenna Ortega) attending college, with Tara’s half-sister Sam (Melissa Barrera) also moving to New York to protect her. The script is penned by “Scream 5” co-screenwriters James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick.

“At the top of the film we see my character Tara avoiding her trauma and desperately trying to reclaim her teenage experience and become normal college student,” Ortega told Entertainment Weekly. “There’s a lot of tension between her and Sam, she feels as though she’s too protective and unwilling to allow them both to move on. She feels suffocated.”

Well, Ghostface could make that feeling a reality as “Scream VI” also ushers in a whole new crop of suspects. Dermot Mulroney makes his franchise debut as a police officer, while Samara Weaving and Tony Revolori are also fresh faces. “Scream 4” alum Hayden Panettiere is back as wise-cracking cinephile Kirby, with original star Courteney Cox returning as reporter Gale Weathers. Rumors have swirled that “Scream” alum Matthew Lillard, who played one-half of the original Ghostface murderer in the 1996 film alongside Skeet Ulrich, will appear in some capacity despite his character’s perceived death.

“Bringing Ghostface to New York adds an entirely new element to the story,” Cox told EW. “Taking the character out of a small town and putting them in the heart of the city that never sleeps is more terrifying than ever.”

As (supposed) new final girl Ortega said, the “Scream” franchise “just gets more and more gory” with Ghostface the most “violent” audiences have ever seen.

Longtime “Scream” star Campbell announced in June 2022 that she was exiting the franchise after almost 30 years as Sidney Prescott. “I did not feel that what I was being offered equated to the value that I bring to this franchise, and have brought to this franchise, for 25 years,” Campbell said of the salary dispute that led to her exit. “As a woman in this business, I think it’s really important for us to be valued and to fight to be valued. I honestly don’t believe that if I were a man and had done five installments of a huge blockbuster franchise over 25 years, that the number that I was offered would be the number that would be offered to a man.”

Campbell has appeared in all five “Scream” films since the first, directed by Wes Craven, was released in 1996. All in all, the franchise has grossed over $744 million at the box office.

“Scream 6” premieres in theaters March 10.

About Gaga getting in on the Wednesday TikTok trend, she told Variety, “It’s really strange. You know what’s funny? A long time ago I worked with a hairdresser that worked with Gaga and I just had seen Gaga in concert a few years before. [The hairdresser got] Gaga [to make] me a video saying she heard I was a fan. Gaga made me a sweet video. I doubt she remembers. But to see her to do that now…it’s one of those moments you realize life changes really fast.”

“If Lady Gaga were to be a part of it, they’d have to be two monsters who understand each other,” she added. She also said she’s had no contact with Gaga at all, so this might just be a bit of fan hope that Gaga could star in season two.

About season two, she added, “I have seen nothing and I know nothing. As the actor you’re told what to do. I’m waiting on it! I think they’re just starting to get a writers room together so we’ll see.”
