Ghostface is ready to take a bite (literally) out of the Big Apple.

“Scream VI” marks the first film sans Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott. Directed by Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the sixth franchise installment sees returning “Scream 5” stars Mindy (Jasmin Savoy Brown), Chad (Mason Gooding), and Tara (Jenna Ortega) attending college, with Tara’s half-sister Sam (Melissa Barrera) also moving to New York to protect her. The script is penned by “Scream 5” co-screenwriters James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick.

“At the top of the film we see my character Tara avoiding her trauma and desperately trying to reclaim her teenage experience and become normal college student,” Ortega told Entertainment Weekly. “There’s a lot of tension between her and Sam, she feels as though she’s too protective and unwilling to allow them both to move on. She feels suffocated.”

Well, Ghostface could make that feeling a reality as “Scream VI” also ushers in a whole new crop of suspects. Dermot Mulroney makes his franchise debut as a police officer, while Samara Weaving and Tony Revolori are also fresh faces. “Scream 4” alum Hayden Panettiere is back as wise-cracking cinephile Kirby, with original star Courteney Cox returning as reporter Gale Weathers. Rumors have swirled that “Scream” alum Matthew Lillard, who played one-half of the original Ghostface murderer in the 1996 film alongside Skeet Ulrich, will appear in some capacity despite his character’s perceived death.

“Bringing Ghostface to New York adds an entirely new element to the story,” Cox told EW. “Taking the character out of a small town and putting them in the heart of the city that never sleeps is more terrifying than ever.”

As (supposed) new final girl Ortega said, the “Scream” franchise “just gets more and more gory” with Ghostface the most “violent” audiences have ever seen.

Longtime “Scream” star Campbell announced in June 2022 that she was exiting the franchise after almost 30 years as Sidney Prescott. “I did not feel that what I was being offered equated to the value that I bring to this franchise, and have brought to this franchise, for 25 years,” Campbell said of the salary dispute that led to her exit. “As a woman in this business, I think it’s really important for us to be valued and to fight to be valued. I honestly don’t believe that if I were a man and had done five installments of a huge blockbuster franchise over 25 years, that the number that I was offered would be the number that would be offered to a man.”

Campbell has appeared in all five “Scream” films since the first, directed by Wes Craven, was released in 1996. All in all, the franchise has grossed over $744 million at the box office.

“Scream 6” premieres in theaters March 10.

After going untelevised in 2022, the Golden Globes returns in time to celebrate its 80th anniversary. Jennifer Coolidge is leaving behind the murderous yachts and islands of Sicily for the no-less-dramatic world of the Golden Globes. The “White Lotus” star will be one of the presenters at Tuesday’s award ceremony, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced Monday.

In addition to Coolidge, Claire Danes, Cole Hauser, Glen Powell, Harvey Guillén, Henry Golding, Hilary Swank, Jay Ellis, Jenna Ortega, Jennifer Hudson, Letitia Wright, Mo Brings Plenty, Regina Hall, and Salma Hayek Pinault will also serve as presenters at the event. They join the first wave of presenters announced at the ceremony, which included Ana De Armas, Ana Gasteyer, Billy Porter, Colman Domingo, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Natasha Lyonne, Nicole Byer, Niecy Nash-Betts, Quentin Tarantino, and Tracy Morgan.

Reports of the death of “Wednesday” at Netflix have been greatly exaggerated. Just days after the spread of rumors that the “Addams Family” teen series might leave the streamer for its rival, Amazon Prime Video, Netflix finally gave a second season renewal to the series January 6, confirming that it would air “Only on Netflix.”

“It’s been incredible to create a show that has connected with people across the world,” showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar said in a statement to Netflix’s official fandom website Tudum. “Thrilled to continue Wednesday’s tortuous journey into season two. We can’t wait to dive headfirst into another season and explore the kooky spooky world of Nevermore. Just need to make sure Wednesday hasn’t emptied the pool first.”

Since its eight-episode first season premiered on November 23, “Wednesday” has been touted by Netflix as one of its all-time most successful series, breaking a variety of records (for English-language shows, at least. “Squid Game” still reigns supreme overall): biggest debut week of a Netflix show at 341.23 million hours viewed! Biggest week overall at 411.3 million hours viewed! Third ever billion-hour season, behind only “Squid Game” and “Stranger Things 4!”

In spite of this blazing success at the streamer, there was some speculation from outlets like The Independent that Netflix waiting over a month to renew the show was due to issues with the production company MGM, which was acquired by Amazon in a deal last spring, and that the series might potentially move to Prime Video. A source at MGM told IndieWire that the deal between MGM and Netflix to produce the series was set before the Amazon acquisition, and thus would not be affected.

Based on “The Addams Family” cartoons created by Charles Addams, “Wednesday” stars Jenna Ortega as the titular character, the daughter of the famously macabre family and a teenage girl with a deadpan disposition and love of violence. The series sees Wednesday shipped off to Nevermore Academy, where she makes new friends, develops psychic abilities, and investigates a string of murders around the town of Jericho, Vermont. Last year, it was announced that Amazon and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) had officially merged. The $8.5 billion deal closed in March of 2022, and Wednesday debuted on Netflix in November of 2022. The issue? MGM owns the rights to The Addams Family, meaning Amazon theoretically could have first dibs for the show to be on Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service for season 2. The show stars Jenna Ortega in the lead role.

Some other details have been explained including that Amazon previously said it does not plan to exclusively stream the rights to all MGM content. In addition, Netflix could theoretically pay for the rights to stream season two, The Independent reports.

None of this has been confirmed by any party involved, so at this time, it’s largely speculation that is now spreading rapidly on social media.

It’s hard to think of a scene from Netflix’s new series Wednesday that is more popular than the iconic dance scene starring Jenna Ortega.

The moment sparked a viral meme when fans filmed themselves doing the choreography and used Lady Gaga‘s throwback song “Bloody Mary” to soundtrack their moves. Mother Monster herself even got in on the fun!

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, creator Miles Millar addressed the situation and assured fans that safety precautions were followed.

“We had extremely stringent COVID protocols that were enforced all the way through the dance,” they explained. “Jenna tested negative the day before, and only when a positive test came back, and as soon as it did, she was escorted off the set and went into quarantine for I think 10 days.”

Miles added that “there was no compromising of that in any decision to keep filming and film Jenna ill or sick, it was never a discussion,” opining that “it was one of those things that basically was sort of blown out of proportion in terms of a story.”

Wednesday creators Al Gough and Miles Millar were asked about the possibility during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

By the sounds of it, anything is possible, but it isn’t guaranteed.

Al stressed that “female friendship” was one of the most important components of the show for them and noted that Wednesday and Enid are at “the center of that.”

Miles agreed that “sisterhood is key to the show.”

“We’re not gonna discount anything, and, obviously, sometimes characters reveal themselves, which is the fun thing we love about television, that it’s an organic journey,” Miles added about the possibility of a relationship developing. “We have a roadmap, and we’d like to have routes along that map that take you in unexpected directions. So, we’re open to everything. We wanna explore that friendship in every way, but we’re not gonna be, this is where you sometimes get misdirected by fans and things like that, so it’s just being really open to see how those characters develop and that friendship. As Al said, that friendship is key to our sort of vision of the show.”

The Wednesday and Xavier romance is happening – well, kind of!

Wednesday co-stars Jenna Ortega and Percy Hynes White are filming a new romantic comedy together in Utah.

Just recently, during an interview promoting the hit Netflix series, Percy shared that the pair were working on a movie.

“I love working with Jenna,” Percy told Popternative. “The movie I’m doing in Utah right now is with her as well. We have a fun time together.”

The movie they’re working is a rom-com called Winter Spring Summer or Fall, according toDeadline, and follows Remi and Barnes, two very different teenagers who meet by chance in the winter of their senior. They then spend four days together over the course of a year that will change their lives forever.

Jenna will also be producing the movie, along with MPCA’s Brad Kevoy, Wall Fly’s Josh Shader and David Wulf.

About Fate writer Tiffany Paulsen is directing the feature, which began filming at the end of October in Salt Lake City, according to her Instagram. Dan Schoffer wrote the script, with revisions by Tiffany.

Lady Gaga has officially taken part in the Wednesday/”Bloody Mary” dance trend on TikTok.

In her video, Lady Gaga films herself putting on a Wednesday-esque outfit before breaking into a dance. Her rendition features some distinctive hand moves that should be familiar to any Little Monster out there.

Although the choreographed scene has popped off on social media, a recent revelation about how it was filmed sparked a backlash from some fans.

The Wednesday and Xavier romance is happening – well, kind of!

Wednesday co-stars Jenna Ortega and Percy Hynes White are filming a new romantic comedy together in Utah.

Just recently, during an interview promoting the hit Netflix series, Percy shared that the pair were working on a movie.

“I love working with Jenna,” Percy told Popternative. “The movie I’m doing in Utah right now is with her as well. We have a fun time together.”

The movie they’re working on has not been announced at all, but fans have uncovered some details…

It is a rom-com called Winter Spring Summer or Fall, and follows Remi and Barnes, two very different teenagers who meet by chance in the winter of their senior. They then spend four days together over the course of a year that will change their lives forever.

About Fate writer Tiffany Paulsen is directing the feature, which began filming at the end of October in Salt Lake City, according to her Instagram.

This is just one of many movies Jenna has in the works, including Scream 6, a Yes Day sequel (though her involvement is not official), a horror movie with Brittany Snow, a movie calledMiller’s Girl, and another film called Finestkind, which will release on Paramount+.

In “Woe is the Night,” the fourth episode of Netflix’s latest smash-hit series “Wednesday,” star Jenna Ortega birthed the latest dance craze with a scene in which she boogies down to “Goo Goo Muck” by The Cramps. But while the scene has since gone viral on TikTok, filming it was a terrible experience for Ortega, who tested positive for COVID almost immediately afterwards.

In an interview with NME released ahead of the whole sensation, Ortega said that she woke up the day the scene was filmed feeling extremely sick. Production had her shoot the dance while awaiting her COVID results.

“It’s crazy because it was my first day with COVID so it was awful to film,” Ortega said. “I woke up and – it’s weird, I never get sick, and when I do, it’s not very bad – I had the body aches. I felt like I’d been hit by a car and that a little goblin had been let loose in my throat and was scratching the walls of my esophagus. They were giving me medicine between takes because we were waiting on the positive result.”

Ultimately that positive result materialized, and Ortega quarantined until she tested negative. In her interview with NME, Ortega said she asked to redo the scene — which she choreographed herself — after she recovered, but the production schedule was too tight. “Wednesday” viewers see the take from when she was sick.

In a statement to IndieWire, “Wednesday” production company MGM wrote that “strict COVID protocols were followed and once the positive test was confirmed production removed Jenna from set.”

With “Wednesday” going gangbusters, the NME story has resurfaced, and users on social media are criticizing how MGM handled the filming of the scene with a sick Ortega and a pending COVID test.

In addition to Ortega, “Wednesday” stars Gwendoline Christie, Jamie McShane, Percy Hynes White, Hunter Doohan, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Naomi J Ogawa, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, Riki Lindhome, and Christina Ricci. Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are the showrunners and executive produce with Tim Burton, 1.21 Entertainment’s Steve Stark and Andrew Mittman, Tee and Charles Addams Foundation’s Kevin Miserocchi, Glickmania’s Jonathan Glickman and Kayla Alpert, Gail Berman, Tommy Harper, and Kevin Lafferty. Burton directed four of the first season’s eight episodes.

She’s the queen of the goths and the queen of streaming. “Wednesday” is the third highest-viewed English-Language series on Netflix, the streamer announced.

According to numbers from Netflix, over the course of its first 12 days of availability (November 23 to December 4), the “Addams Family” spinoff series has been watched by over 115 million households for a total of 752.52 million hours viewed. This puts it at No. 3 on the streamer’s list of the top 10 English-language TV seasons, behind “Stranger Things 4” and “Monster: the Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” both of which logged over a billion hours within 60 days of tracking.

The other series on the list include the first two seasons of “Bridgerton,” Season 3 of “Stranger Things,” Season 5 of “Lucifer,” Season 1 of “The Witcher,” “Inventing Anna,” and Season 2 of “13 Reasons Why.” With the ascension of “Wednesday,” the final season of “Ozark,” released this year, was quickly dethroned from the pantheon.

In addition, “Wednesday” beat its own record for most hours viewed in a week to log 411.3 hours between November 28–December 4, topping the Netflix English-language series list in 89 countries. During the show’s debut week over the Thanksgiving holiday — it debuted November 23, meaning it only had five days of tracking — the show set the record for hours viewed in a week with 341.23 million hours. This feat dethroned “Stranger Things 4,” which logged 335.01 million hours from May 30 to June 5.

Of course, all these metrics are for English-language series. “Squid Game,” the Korean-language Netflix phenomenon, still has “Wednesday,” “Stranger Things,” and “Monster” beat with 1.65 billion hours viewed, and enjoyed the single biggest week on the streamer from September 27–October 3, 2021, when it logged a mind-boggling 571.76 million hours viewed. “Money Heist: Part 5” also outranks “Wednesday” with 792.23 million hours viewed, though it shouldn’t take too long for the Addams girl to surpass it.

Starring Jenna Ortega as the title character, “Wednesday” sees the Addams’ daughter enroll in Nevermore Academy, where she makes new friends, develops psychic abilities, and investigates a string of murders around the town of Jericho, Vermont. The series also stars Gwendoline Christie, Jamie McShane, Percy Hynes White, Hunter Doohan, Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Naomi J Ogawa, Moosa Mostafa, Georgie Farmer, Riki Lindhome, and Christina Ricci, who played the character of Wednesday in two films released in 1991 and 1993. Since its release, “Wednesday” received mixed reviews, with many critics praising Ortega’s portrayal of the character but criticizing the writing as derivative of other teen shows. In his review, IndieWire TV critic Ben Travers wrote: “When it comes to the macabre, Wednesday (and, more so, “Wednesday”) is all talk and little action — a well-rounded character hammered into the rectangular icon on your Netflix homescreen, by an algorithm built to conform.”
