Jenna Ortega is not going be starring in Scream VII.

The 21-year-old actress isn’t expected to return as Tara Carpenter in the film due to her shooting schedule for her hit Netflix series Wednesday, via Deadline.

The departure from the film franchise has “nothing to do with the fallout from Melissa Barrera‘s firing yesterday,” the report also clarifies. “Nor does it have to do with the actress asking for an end to her Scream contract.”

Her exit from the franchise was discussed “before the actors strike,” according to the report.

Jenna will head to Ireland in April to shoot the second season of Netflix’s Wednesday which will go into the summer. Beetlejuice also had a few extra days of shooting in order to meet its Labor Day 2024 theatrical release.

One day prior, her co-star, who plays her character’s sister Sam Carpenter in the series, was let go from the seventh film due to social media postings about Israel-Palestine.

A script for Scream VII is not ready yet.

Jenna Ortega is speaking out about her experience as a child star.

She told Harper’s Bazaar UK, “As a child actor, there are two jobs that you can get: you’re either the younger version of someone or you’re playing somebody’s daughter – and there were just not many leading Hispanic actors who I could be that for. So a lot of the jobs that I was going for growing up would never work out, because I didn’t look [a certain] way. That was really hard, to hear that something you couldn’t change was what was preventing you [from succeeding].”

She confessed, “I wanted to dye my hair blonde so that I would look like Cinderella.”

She then came to her own realization: “I thought, ‘I don’t want other young girls to look up at the screen and feel like they have to change their appearance to be deemed beautiful or worthy.’”

Ariana Greenblatt and Jenna Ortega played sisters for over two years on Disney Channel.

There was a theft on the Beetlejuice 2 set!

Vermont State Police revealed that there have been two props stolen from the set since the strikes have started, according to People.

According to the police report, a lamppost and an abstract art sculpture were taken from the set.

The sequel had been filming in East Corinth, Vermont, ahead of the strikes commencing and in the report, it says that the movie’s security team reported that someone had removed “a large lamppost topped with a distinctive pumpkin decoration” on July 14.

Then, just a few days later, the abstract art, which Beetlejuice fans will instantly recognize as one of the Delia Deetz sculptures that comes to life was swiped from a cemetery the movie had filmed in.

The VSP says that they are on the lookout for “an older model GMC pickup truck” for the first theft.

The sequel, will bring back Michael Keaton as the title ghost, as well as Winona Ryder and Jenna Ortega.

Jenna Ortega and Paul Rudd are starring in the new movie Death of a Unicorn!

While the SAG-AFTRA strike has put a pause on nearly all film and TV productions, their upcoming A24 film has been granted approval to go through with filming, according to Variety.

How is this allowed, you ask?

While there are several rules that actors are supposed to follow during the strike, there are some ways for projects and actors to continue.

If the project is from a major studio and part of AMPTP, they are not able to film, while independent projects and student films are among those that can film, as long as they obtain a waiver from SAG-AFTRA, granting them permission for the actors to partake and production to continue during the strike.

In order to receive the waiver, they must agree to all of the terms that SAG-AFTRA is asking for in the strike.

There are 39 projects that received permission to go ahead during the strike.

Death of a Unicorn, with Jenna and Paul, reportedly will see them as daughter and father who run over a unicorn on their way home. They are set to start filming soon in Hungary, according to Variety.

If you didn’t know, Jenna and Paul are both part of the MCU – she had a small appearance in Iron Man 3, while Paul joined as Ant-Man a couple of years later!
