“I choreographed that myself!” Jenna told NME. “I’m not a dancer and I’m sure that’s obvious. I’d gotten the song [The Cramps’ 1981 single ‘Goo Goo Muck’] about a week before and I just pulled from whatever I could… it’s crazy because it was my first day with COVID so it was awful to film.”

Jenna added, “Yeah, I woke up and – it’s weird, I never get sick and when I do it’s not very bad – I had the body aches. I felt like I’d been hit by a car and that a little goblin had been let loose in my throat and was scratching the walls of my esophagus. They were giving me medicine between takes because we were waiting on the positive result.”

“I asked to redo it but we didn’t have time. I think I probably could have done it a bit better,” she said.

Wednesday‘s production company MGM said “strict COVID protocols were followed and once the positive test was confirmed production removed Jenna from set.”

Jenna Ortega is revealing what she would want out of a second season of her hit Netflix series Wednesday!

The 20-year-old actress of course stars as the titular character of Wednesday Addams in the show, which smashed Stranger Things‘ fourth season record.

While the show hasn’t officially been renewed yet, we’re pretty sure we’ll get a second season, based on this week’s viewing numbers. Jenna has opened up about what she’d like to see for her character.

“I kind of want her to be darker,” she toldET. “I want her to get more in the nitty-gritty of things and not play things so safe, because there are a lot of lines about her saving the school and doing whatever, but for me, her main drive with the monster is of a competitiveness. “I think I want it to continue down an antihero stream rather than a typical hero,” Jenna added.

In the world of “The Addams Family,” Wednesday Addams has been a perpetual 10-year-old girl with a deadpan wit and a love for the murderous and macabre. It was something that Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, creators of Netflix’s new series “Wednesday,” wanted to change with their take, separating Wednesday from her family and giving her her own chance to shine.

“She was never the center of the scene,” Millar told IndieWire via Zoom.

Using the illustrations of Charles Addams, who crafted “The Addams Family” back in 1938, as inspiration, Gough and Millar went back and forth on what type of world Wednesday would inhabit. “Because of the ‘Harry Potter’ of it all [the question was] should she be at a regular school and then be a fish out of water?” Millar said. “But it felt kind of one-note and she’d always have to return home at night to the family that [we] wanted to get away from.”

Because Tim Burton directed four of the series’ eight episodes, his voice also needed to be taken into consideration. “We always say the tone of the show is really the Tim Burton tone,” said Gough, which manifests in Wednesday’s patented dark striped wardrobe, compliments of Burton’s long-time costume designer Colleen Atwood, as well as her dark sense of humor. This is a series that culminates a high school dance by dumping blood red paint on everyone, after all. “It all feels very accessible to a large audience while still feeling kind of anti,” Gough said.

But while Wednesday Addams has a murderous streak to her, there was hesitation as to how dark things could go on the show. The creators already knew the plotline itself would be heavy, with Wednesday solving a murder mystery, but they also knew the character herself would have to be suitably macabre, and it left Netflix with some pause. “Netflix was always very supportive and the executives were huge Addams Family fans,” Gough said.

But, as Millar pointed out, there was a desire to make small changes. “We still did have executives wanting to cut some lines,” he said. The line in question comes when Wednesday’s roommate Enid (Emma Meyers) encourages Wednesday to “take a stab at being social” to which Wednesday responds that she’s fond of stabbings. “That’s the whole point of the character,” Millar said. “To lose that or dilute that is a betrayal of the character.”

Thankfully, the line stayed in the series.

It’s a tad ironic that Netflix would hesitate at a line like that, especially considering the series involves murder, including the death of Nevermore Academy’s principal, Larissa Weems (Gwendoline Christie). Both creators said they didn’t want this to mimic “Scooby Doo”; the characters’ actions here have consequences. In the case of Weems’ death, the pair knew it needed to have significance, and not just because Christie played another beloved (and incredibly strong) character, Brienne of Tarth in “Game of Thrones” and fans would be sad to see her go.

“Gwendolyn loved it,” Gough said. “She read all eight scripts before she had signed on. You see Gwendolyn in a way you’ve never seen her before. She’s incredibly glamorous and she inhabits that character so well.”

The 20-year-old star of the new Netflix series reveals she was insecure about one scene in particular, but her co-stars all love it!

The scene in question, the dance scene in episode four, where she puts on a whole routine while attending with Hunter Doohan‘s Tyler.

Here’s what she said…

“I actually felt really insecure about this. I choreographed that myself, and I think it’s very obvious that I’m not a dancer or choreographer,” Jenna said in a new reaction video from Netflix.

Co-star Emma Meyers, who plays her roommate Enid, said, “This is my favorite scene. We brought this up so many times… It’s fantastic.”

Hunter added, “The last two days this is all we’ve been talking about… It’s amazing!”

“It’s hypnotizing, really,” Joy Sunday, who plays Bianca, said.

The dance is set to the song “Goo Goo Muck” by The Cramps.

Jenna Ortega is opening up about director Tim Burton and his attention to detail!

The 20-year-old actress and the legendary director of course worked together on the new Netflix seriesWednesday, which is out now.

In a recent interview with her friend Olivia Rodrigo, Jenna dished on working with the director and shared a story of how he made sure her hair was just right before filming.

“Working with Tim was incredible. I didn’t really know what to expect and every time I’d spoken to him prior… He’s a man of very few words,” Jenna told Olivia for The Face. “You speak to him for five minutes about something that might be a really big deal, but he always goes more in-depth with things on set. I remember on the first day, I was really nervous to continue shooting with him because I didn’t know what it would be like.”

“We’d been trying to perfect Wednesday’s braids. We were two hours behind because he kept coming over and saying: ‘No, that’s wrong. No, this isn’t straight enough.’ They were shaving the back of my neck to create the perfect line. They were cutting my hair on the day – there were hair and make-up artists cutting new extensions in the trailer as we were speaking and as we were shooting. He took a hairdresser’s comb and brushed my hair. He was taking apart my fringe one [hair] by one until it sat in the place he wanted it to sit. Then he hairsprayed it so that it wouldn’t move,” the actress shared.

“He was very intense and meticulous. He’d never done TV before and I was like, what’s our schedule going to look like? What scenes are getting pushed to tomorrow? After we established the look – which was also very exciting to see him do, because he’s such a visionary – he refused to shoot anything that didn’t satisfy that itch that he had in his brain,” Jenna continued. “It’s very insightful to see. He always did it kindly. He knew everyone’s names, [but] he was very quiet and [kept] to himself. He excused himself if he felt he was in the way.

“I’ve never worked with someone on that level before, but I’ve had people on smaller levels who have been disrespectful to crew, don’t know how to talk to an actor, it doesn’t feel like a collaboration,” she said. “With Tim, I never had that problem. He’s one of my favourite directors I’ve ever worked with. I feel like I learned so much from him and he was always happy to teach. What a sweetheart of a creature. I’m blown away by him. I don’t know what I anticipated, but after getting to know him, you couldn’t be nervous. He just wanted you to feel as comfortable and prepared to do whatever it was you were doing, which is wonderful.”

The minute you see the words “The Addams Family,” no doubt you snap your fingers twice. (Or, if you’re a ’90s kid, you might start singing the “Whoomp! There It Is” version of the theme song that debuted with 1993’s “Addams Family Values”). The Addams clan has seen several incarnations since debuting as a series of The New Yorker cartoons penned by Charles Addams in 1938. The cartoons and the various films and television shows that rose in their wake perfectly blend the humorous and the macabre while focusing on the tight-knit family of Gomez, Morticia, their children Pugsley and Wednesday, and Uncle Fester.

The latest iteration is Tim Burton’s series “Wednesday,” set to debut on Netflix on November 23. The series centers on a teenage Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) trying to solve many mysteries, one being how to cement her identity outside the shadow of her ever-glamorous mother, Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones). Wednesday is also tasked with harnessing her budding psychic ability to solve a serial killer case at Nevermore Academy and cracking a murder mystery that involved her parents 25 years ago.

With “Wednesday” premiering shortly, it’s an opportunity to look at (and rank) the various depictions of the Addams family over the years.

Note: This doesn’t include one-off television specials like 1977’s “Halloween with the New Addams Family” or their 1970s appearances with Scooby Doo. It also excludes the 1973 short film “The Addams Family Funhouse.”

10. “The Addams Family 2” (2021)

What Happens: This sequel to the 2019 animated reboot directed by “Sausage Party” helmers Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan sees the Addamses go on a family road trip where Gomez (voiced by Oscar Isaac) and Morticia (Charlize Theron) fear Wednesday (Chloë Grace Moretz) might not be their daughter.

How Are the Addamses: Where the 2019 feature had some sly, subversive humor for adults, this one lacked anything particularly fun or memorable. The movie barely clocked in at feature length, even padded by credits and a performance from Cousin It — voiced by Snoop Dogg. Really, this movie showed that the Addams family might need to be a bit more macabre to leave an impact.

Theme Song: The famous theme song created for the 1960s television series comes at the movie’s end, sung by Christina Aguilera of all people. The animated credits are probably the most charming element of the film.

9. “Addams Family Reunion” (1998)

What Happens: Gomez (Tim Curry) plans a family reunion, but a mix-up sees the family end up at the swanky home of Dr. Philip Adams (Ed Begley, Jr.), who plans to murder his father.

How Are the Addamses: This one ranks just above 10 because of how weird it is. And that’s saying something for a movie about the Addams family. Starring Tim Curry as Gomez and Daryl Hannah as Morticia, director Dave Payne initially conceived the direct-to-DVD feature as dark and edgy. But studio Saban wanted something aimed at families and significantly altered the script. The finished product is fairly terrible, but where else will you see Madison the Mermaid and Pennywise play the first family of darkness?

Theme Song: Again, I gotta give this movie some credit for being bizarre. In a 2016 interview for Yahoo!, Payne said he’d planned a suitably appropriate theme for the film. Instead, Saban brought in the group Strate Vocalz to perform the ’60s theme song with a mix of doo-wop and New Jack swing. The results are highly entertaining, to say the least.

8. “The Addams Family” (2019)

What Happens: The Addamses move to New Jersey and attract the eye of a TV reality host who wants to see them conform.

How Are the Addamses: This animated reboot marked the return of Charles Addams’ characters after 20 years, and the results are charming. Sure, social media decried Oscar Isaac voicing a Gomez that looked more like The New Yorker Gomez than Raul Julia’s, but he brought a serious burst of tenderness to the character. Some of the jokes are outright hilarious and, according to a 2019 Forbes interview with the directors, toned down for an audience of families.

Theme Song: If we were ranking based on the theme song alone, this would probably go lower. The ending does include a rendition of the original ’60s TV theme, but it’s more a lead-in to the true end credits song “My Family,” performed by Migos, Karol G, Snoop Dogg, and Rock Mafia, which is….fine.

7. “The Addams Family” (1973)

What Happens: This Hanna-Barbera animated series sees the Addams clan climb into their Creepy Camper to travel across the U.S., leaving chaos in their wake and stumbling upon various mysteries.

How Are the Addamses: The Addamses popped into an episode of “Scooby Doo” in 1972 in that grand tradition of the era of turning every show into a cartoon. In this case, it was the launchpad for “The Addams Family,” marking the return of the Addamses to television after a decade’s absence. It was certainly funny hearing the Addams with the patented cartoon laugh track and looking like the original Charles Addams conceptions. If you enjoy the format of “Scooby Doo,” you’ll probably gravitate to this. Unfortunately, the series was canceled after 16 episodes.

Theme Song: Weirdly enough, most of the clips of this cartoon have the 1992 animated theme song playing over it, so it’s unclear what theme song opened the 1973 cartoon. I’m gonna assume it sounded like a spookier version of the “Scooby Doo” theme.

6. “The Addams Family” (1992-1993)

What Happens: The Addamses move to Happydale Heights while dealing with their meddling neighbors, the Normanmeyers.

How Are the Addamses?: Released in the wake of the 1991 film’s success, this take on the Addamses saw John Astin — Gomez from the original TV series — reprise his role as the voice of this animated Gomez. The animation feels very 1992, but it’s perfectly aligned with other cartoons of the era, like “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.” This version ran for two seasons before being canceled in 1993.

Theme Song: This one has a very fun, Thurl Ravenscroft-esque rendition of the ’60s TV theme. The animation also works to great effect, with the house almost coming alive during the opening credits.

5. “The New Addams Family” (1998-1999)

What Happens: The Addams family navigates familial issues, only this time, they have weird supernatural abilities.

How Are the Addams: There’s an “Addams Family” for literally every generation, and “The New Addams Family” was aimed at anyone who watched “Are You Afraid of the Dark,” “Eerie Indiana,” or any of the late ’90s shows that aired on the Fox network. This series firmly wanted to be a retread of the ’60s show, right down to recreating several of the original episodes, albeit with modernized references. Despite the low budget, the cast here is very good, with Glenn Taranto and Ellie Harvie an entertaining Gomez and Morticia. John Astin even popped onto this series for several episodes playing Grandpapa Adams. Though the show filmed 65 episodes, it only ran for a season.

Theme Song: Despite remaking several episodes from the ’60s series, this iteration doesn’t use the original theme. Instead, it’s a very ’90s rhumba-esque theme that I could see Gomez and Morticia dancing to, but it’s not an earworm like the more famous theme.

4. “Wednesday” (2022)

What Happens: Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) attends Nevermore Academy, where she learns about a murder her parents were implicated in and a case that connects back to the Addamses of the 1600s.

How Are the Addamses: Gomez and Morticia (Luis Guzman and Catherine Zeta-Jones, respectively) are present and accounted for, but this series is all about Wednesday. To show what a small world the “Addams Family” is, Tim Burton, who helmed half of the series’ episodes, was initially offered the chance to direct the 1991 feature but passed to work on “Batman Returns.” Star Jenna Ortega perfectly utilizes the deadpan humor to play the character as an old-school noir detective, not just like the Addams daughter we’ve come to know. The series pays loving homage to both the original series and the popular ’90s films, though Wednesday pulling off the iconic dance that Lisa Loring, who played the character in the ’60s, does is probably my favorite Easter egg.

Theme Song: Danny Elfman pens an original theme for this Netflix series that is suitably moody. The series utilizes a lot of cello, as it’s Wednesday’s favorite instrument, so the theme sets the tone for the series and the character.

3. “The Addams Family” (1991)

What Happens: The Addams family reunites with Gomez’s (Raul Julia) brother Fester (Christopher Lloyd), who was presumed lost at sea. Unfortunately, Fester’s return is part of a con that seeks to kick the family out of their house.

How Are the Addamses: After numerous attempts to craft a new television series, Orion Pictures decided to take a chance on a new feature film. The movie was plagued with production difficulties, but it was a commercial hit upon release in 1991, bringing the Addamses to a new generation. Julia and Anjelica Huston, as Gomez and Morticia, remain couple goals, and because the movie was aimed at families and a slightly older audience, the humor was remarkably darker.

Theme Song: The movies are perfect, but the theme songs are….iffy. MC Hammer performed “Addams Groove,” and while the music video isn’t as hilarious as another one on this list, it must be seen to be believed.

2. “The Addams Family” (1964-1966)

What Happens: The series that started it all, the original 1964 take on “The Addams Family” saw them dealing with all manner of sitcom hijinks, finding love, and dealing with society in a deadpan way.

How Are the Addamses: The original “Addams Family” series is a 1960s sitcom, so it’s short on plot and long on funny things. As Gomez and Morticia, John Astin and Carolyn Jones might not have been as overt in their sexual chemistry compared to the films, but they are a beautiful couple. Much like their more successful competitor, “The Munsters,” the series was a move away from the more country-inspired fish-out-of-water stories that were popular at the time (like “The Beverly Hillbillies”), with the Addams’ darkness at odds with conventional society.

Theme Song: This theme is perfect. There’s a reason it’s often imitated but never duplicated. No notes.

1. “Addams Family Values” (1993)

What Happens: A murderous nanny named Debbie (Joan Cusack) aims to steal the Addams’ fortune. Meanwhile, Wednesday (Christina Ricci) attempts to break out of a happy summer camp.

How are the Addams: The 1993 sequel to 1991’s “Addams Family” might be more beloved than its predecessor, and it’s easy to see why. This movie is family entertainment that also welcomes outcast tweens looking for a movie that understands them. Christina Ricci’s performance as Wednesday is utter perfection. It’s one of the rare sequels to define the entire franchise.

Theme Song: “Whoomp! Addams Family!” How do you know this was made in 1993? Because Tag Team does the theme song, reconfiguring their popular “Whoomp! (There It Is)” for this movie. The music video brings lots of enjoyment.

The 20-year-old actress kicked off her week by promoting her upcoming Netflix series Wednesday.

The cast of Netflix’s new Addams Family series Wednesday showed up in force for the show’s world premiere on Wednesday (November 16) in Los Angeles.

Jenna Ortega, who plays Wednesday Addams in the series, dressed for the occasion in an appropriately gothic look that included a veil. She posed for photos with Christina Ricci, who played Wednesday in the 1991 movie about the iconic spooky family. She plays Marilyn Thornhill in the new show and was also dressed in a black gown with a spiderweb motif.

Catherine Zeta-Jones, who brings the Addams matriarch Morticia Addams to life, provided the perfect contrast in a white gown.

Jenna Ortega opens up about her time on Disney Channel and going to “Disney Prom“!

The 20-year-old actress, who of course starred in Stuck in the Middle on the network, was on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote her new series Wednesday.

While making her first late night talk show appearance, she talked about growing up on set and transitioning to home-school after landing on the Disney show.

When Jimmy asked if she went to prom, she told him that Disney held their own prom for their actors.

“Disney has like a separate prom for their kids,” she told Jimmy. “I think they’re trying to make us feel normal, but it’s just really awkward because you don’t know these kids, and their parents are there, and people are socializing and promoting themselves.”

She adds, “It’s a really sweet thing on Disney’s part, but it is a bit odd.”

Speaking of awkward, Jenna also opened up about a moment with Christina Ricci on the set of Wednesday.

“I feel like I personally made it a little weird,” she said. “I feel she was really sweet about it. Me, it was one of the most awkward experiences I’ve ever had.”

“You know, I’m dressed up the way she was 30 years ago, and she’s getting to watch me, but I know her as Wednesday in my head,” Jenna continued. “And I think socially, I can be kind of hard to communicate with at times, and somethings I would say something as a joke. I think I have a very dark sense of humor, and she would go, ‘Ooh, that’s dark.’ So then I just wouldn’t want to talk again, you know… But she’s a sweetheart!”

Jenna Ortega reunites with Luis Guzmán backstage at the Critics Choice Association’s Celebration of Latino Cinema and Television held at Fairmont Century Plaza on Sunday (November 13) in Century City, Calif.

The 20-year-old actress received the Rising Star Award for Television presented by IMDbPro, which her Wednesday TV dad presented to her.

“It’s really such an honor and I feel so fortunate. I’m very, very lucky. Thank you to Critics’ Choice Awards and all of you guys,” she said in her speech. “I really hope that with my work I’m able to inspire other young Latinas, or Latinos even, and make sure to encourage them to pursue the arts and show them that there’s room for us, all of us. It doesn’t have to be a select few.”

Also receiving awards that night were With Love‘s Gloria Calderon Kellett with the Producer Award for Television and Brandon Perea with Rising Star Award for Film presented by IMDbPro.

Apparently, Sidney Prescott is going the way of Samantha Jones for “Scream 6”: heard but not seen.

Following Neve Campbell’s departure from the “Scream” franchise over salary disputes, “Scream 6” star Jenna Ortega told Entertainment Tonight that Campbell’s iconic final girl character will still be referenced in the upcoming film.

“It’s very clear, there’s references to Sidney, of course,” Ortega said. “You know, it’s nice because there’s still a protectiveness in the script and that’s something that the actors had naturally over her because obviously we respect her and we want the best for her. She’s missed and thought of.”

Ortega continued, “I feel like I can’t really speak too much on that just because it’s not necessarily my character. But I will say there’s so much going on in this next one, that it’s so action-heavy and so gore-heavy that I think you’re going to be distracted almost.”

Ortega reprises her “Scream” role alongside Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Mason Gooding for the sixth film, in theaters March 31, 2023. Franchise staple Courteney Cox is back, as well as “Scream 4” alum Hayden Panettiere. Samara Weaving, Dermot Mulroney, Henry Czerny, Tony Revolori, Jack Champion, Devyn Nekoda, Liana Liberato, and Josh Segarra join the franchise, with “Scream 6” marking the first time killer Ghostface leaves the fictional suburb of Woodsboro. “Scream 6” is set in New York City.

After playing Sidney for over 25 years, Campbell revealed in 2021 that she believed her salary offer for the sixth film to be sexist. Campbell has appeared in all five “Scream” films since the original movie, directed by Wes Craven, was released in 1996. All in all, the franchise has grossed more than $744 million at the box office.

“I did not feel that what I was being offered equated to the value that I bring to this franchise, and have brought to this franchise, for 25 years,” Campbell told People. “As a woman in this business, I think it’s really important for us to be valued and to fight to be valued. I honestly don’t believe that if I were a man and had done five installments of a huge blockbuster franchise over 25 years, that the number that I was offered would be the number that would be offered to a man.”

If you didn’t know, the 42-year-old actress also portrayed the character in the 1991 film The Addams Family and it’s 1993 sequel Addams Family Values.

Christina will also be appearing in the upcoming Netflix series Wednesday, where she will portray Marilyn Thornhill, who is presumably a teacher at Nevermore Academy.

In a new interview, Christina gushed over Jenna‘s portrayal of Wednesday Addams.

Jenna Ortega wants us to rethink who is behind stories about teenage girls.

The “Scream” star, who leads Netflix’s upcoming “Wednesday” series, told Who What Wear that the recent shift in diverse storytelling has dismantled the notion that adolescent women are just a “lame stereotype” onscreen.

“I really see my young generation taking more control of themselves in the industry — whether it’s learning to write sooner, direct sooner, or produce sooner,” Ortega said. “I think it’s really empowering and important because, right now, teenage voices are still being told in the majority by older white males.”

The “X” star continued, “The more that happens, we’ll acknowledge that girls are much more than a lame stereotype.”

Ortega has been certified as a scream queen in her own right as the newest “Scream” final girl to appear in two installments with upcoming “Scream 6” ahead.

“I never really considered it because a lot of what I do is horror, and they all have these moody and nasty qualities, but what I love is that they also have a sassy teenage nature,” Ortega said. “The thing about horror is that it’s become a second home to me at this point. I’ve been on enough of those sets [that] I go and I know what’s expected of me. It feels like a typical 9-to-5.”

Ortega already promised that the upcoming “Scream 6,” the first installment sans Neve Campbell, will be the goriest yet. “I think that this is probably the most aggressive and violent version of Ghostface we’ve ever seen,” the 20-year-old actress said. The film also marks the first franchise movie to travel to New York City.

Iconic scream queen Cassandra Peterson, aka Elvira, reflected on the progression of final girls onscreen, exclusively telling IndieWire that over generations of horror films, the genre has upended the initially sexist portrayals of female characters.

“Women have come a long way in horror movies. They become the killer, they become the survivors,” Peterson said of the trope. “I think that is a reflection of where we are in society, moving in that direction instead of women always being the hapless victim who dies in the end. Women have much more of a presence now.”

Uncle Fester, is that you?

A new trailer for Netflix’s “Wednesday” series confirms Fred Armisen is playing the beloved hopeless romantic Addams Family member, Fester. The role was originally brought to the big screen with Christopher Lloyd in 1991’s “The Addams Family” and 1993’s “Addams Family Values.” Jackie Coogan played Uncle Fester in the original sitcom series.

The upcoming Netflix series stars Jenna Ortega as the titular teen Wednesday, along with her parents Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán in the partially Tim Burton-directed show, streaming November 23. Fellow “Addams Family” alum Christina Ricci also appears in the series as a teacher at Nevermore Academy, the school for gifted children where Wednesday taps into her psychic abilities. Gwendoline Christie plays the school principal.

Co-star Armisen confirmed to Vanity Fair that he shaved his head for the role of Uncle Fester instead of opting for a bald cap. The “Portlandia” creator cited his main inspiration as Coogan’s iteration of the character (“that’s the version I can hear”) while calling Llyod’s take “amazing.”

“I didn’t have any designs on, ‘Well, now I’m going to add this element…’ No, this is someone who likes wearing those big coats, and is enjoying his own eccentricities,” Armisen said.

Emmy nominee Ricci reunited with director Burton after collaborating on 1999’s “Sleepy Hollow,” co-starring Johnny Depp, who was at one point rumored to be playing Uncle Fester in the “Wednesday” series.

“Tim is such an incredible director and so creative and visionary and smart,” Ricci told Slant Magazine. “And as an actor, you basically just do anything he tells you to because he’s so good and you just trust him so much. And it’s such a gift to be on one of his sets. He’s just continued to make movie after movie after movie that have been genius and amazing. And it was like being 10 again to work with him. He was incredible and inspiring.”

As for Ortega taking over Ricci’s iconic role as Wednesday, the “Yellowjackets” star added, “I was in a lot of scenes with [Jenna], so I have witnessed [her performance] first-hand, and people are going to fall in love with her version of Wednesday. It’s a great modern take on the character.”

“Wednesday” is executive-produced by co-showrunners Miles Millar and Al Gough. Burton helms four out of the eight episodes.

“Wednesday” premieres November 23 on Netflix.
